🔥 How to properly use the IKEA FORNEBY oven / microwave

Please, do not force anything.
If something cannot be easily closed, inserted, or set, something is probably not properly shut or the wrong mode is selected.

This oven has multiple functions — it works as a microwave, a convection oven, and a combination oven.
You can find the complete printed manual in the drawer under the oven.

1. Regular food heating – microwave

Use the Microwave function.

  1. Remove baking trays and the metal rack from the oven.
  2. Only use microwave-safe dishes.
  3. Place the food on the glass microwave plate – on the bottom of the oven.
  4. Set the microwave time and power.
  5. Start heating by confirming with the OK / Start button.

⚠️ Do not put metal, aluminum foil, metal bowls, or dishes with gold/silver rims in the microwave. The manual explicitly states that only microwave-safe containers should be used for microwave cooking.

2. Baking like in a conventional oven

For regular baking, it is best to use:

  • True Fan Cooking – universal baking, cakes, casseroles, pastries.
  • Conventional Cooking – baking on one level.
  • Pizza Function – pizza or dishes where you want a crispier bottom.
  • Turbo Grilling – au gratin dishes, gratins, larger pieces of meat.

Procedure:

  1. Select the desired baking function.
  2. Set the temperature.
  3. Confirm the settings.
  4. Once preheated, place the food in the oven.
  5. After use, turn the knob back to the off / 0 position.

3. Combination cooking – oven + microwave

Combination functions are marked as functions with MW — for example, True Fan Cooking + MW or Turbo Grilling + MW. They are used for faster baking or browning, as the oven bakes and uses microwave power simultaneously. The manual lists the combination modes Turbo Grilling + MW and True Fan Cooking + MW with a microwave power of 100–600 W.

Only use them when you are sure that:

  1. the dish is suitable for both oven and microwave use,
  2. there is no aluminum foil or unsuitable metal in the oven,
  3. the food is intended for baking / quick cooking.

If you are unsure, it is better to use the microwave separately or the True Fan Cooking separately.

4. After use

  1. Always turn the oven off.
  2. Remove trays and dishes with an oven mitt — they can be very hot.
  3. Allow the oven to cool down.
  4. If something has spilled or boiled over, please gently wipe the inside of the oven after it has cooled.

Thank you for using the oven carefully and leaving it clean for the next guests. ✨
